Memetic Cycle Of Hell

A kid keeps looking over my shoulder at #4chan and comments on how he thinks some of their comments are true but mostly it is a nsfw channel. I said, it's just text, how can it be nsfw, he says:

Mark:
Maybe you could post the best excerpts on bash.org .

kakama5:
bash.org does not accept new quotes
they are unfunny old hags who sit and stew over ancient quotes from +i efnet channels

kakama5:
it is an old resource, outdated, and now a part of that stupid "geek culture"
hahahaha yeah they sure do have a nice add feature
now go add a funny quote
and wait 2 months
so they can reject it if they even get to their review panel

Mark: It appears from the quote numbers that they accept about 0.1% to 0.5% of submissions,
but most submissions are probably automated spam...

kakama5:
most submissions are funny original content that they reject
that is how the internet works:

the rehashed things crust over into memes

then, 4chan walks around and some meme scrapes off onto other websites

those websites scoop it all up and put it all onto a website dedicated to the memetic crust scrap

this is then pressed in a mold to create a new cute looking product designed to appeal to "geek culture" ie people that use digg, do useless lifehacks, and have all sorts of cool-home-tech they spend most of their life configuring and not using

then eventually they set their geek culture crust-stamped toys down and someone from MySpace picks it up and shows it to their friend

so a giant factory makes the internet equivalent of pvc plastic models of the pressed meme ruboff crust and gives it to everyone myspacer as some app

these are then resold by the memetic websites

wikipedia might eventually get an article after Time Magazine or New Yorker comments on this growing social trend

chain emails start with a thousand FWD: in the subject field and some poor quality meme rehas attached

upon reading the wikipedia on this clever new thing in their inbox your mom and dad feel very net-savvy; they might even have read a blog about it a co-worker linked to

Then a 4channer walks by a computer and sees a bunch of emos and scene kids laughing at lolcats with an ICHC watermark accross the bottom that they just got in a myspace bullitan a person copied from their email that their uncle sent them, and the 4channer wants to die.
And that is how memes work.

Mark:
complicated....

Serious fucking business.
